How To Make Any Website Better - The Big Red Fez by Seth Godin

Your web's broken, let's fix that. :) Source:Flickr
I've just finished reading another of Seth Godin's book (yeah I'm addicted to his books!), The Big Red Fez: How To Make Any Website Better. It talks about.. well you get it, just re-read the title. Or for me, another good title would be How To Make Your Web Visitors Do What You Want Them To Do?

I believe that the majority web surfers(people surfing the internet), aside from logging in to their Facebook accounts, are looking for something. Something they need, as in right now! Seth Godin describes it like this:

I forgive you... now give me that Banana! Source
He said that the people on the internet are Monkeys, who are looking for the Banana (in your website), and If they can't find the Banana, they would walk away and (leave your website). So the most important thing people should see first in your website is... What they want and what they and are looking for!

The Big Red Fez: How To Make Any Web Site BetterIn the book, he showed examples of good websites that has the "Banana" who makes good profits and those poor websites wherein, once you entered the site, YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO NEXT! (No Banana). The main purpose of your website is to MAKE YOUR WEB VISITORS DO WHAT YOU WANT THEM TO DO.

You Either Want Them To Do These Things (but not limited to):
  • Subscribe
  • Sign Up To Your Newsletters
  • Register For An Account
  • Search for something
  • Share the page to their friends, and the most important
  • Buy / Order Something.
So if there's something I can share to you right now based on my experience.. that BIG BLUE BOX you saw above when you entered this website, pointed by the Blue Moving Arrows, and telling you to get my FREE 7 Day Tutorial... is MY BANANA (it's kinda weird saying that! haha!) on this blog. I intentionally placed it above so that it would be the first thing my web visitor sees when they visit my site and would then get the FREE BANANA (Free Tutorial), by Subscribing, so I can get their Permission to send them more Information they want. So if you want more tips on How To Make Any Website Better, I suggest you purchase Seth Godin's The Big Red Fez Book through Amazon by clicking here. How about you? What and where is the Banana in your website? Tell me! :)

P.S.
When you get to Amazon.com by clicking the link above, notice how well they placed their Banana's in their website. You will actually know what to do next! Amazon.com is Seth Godin's favorite site by the way. :D

P.S. 2
