Where (and How) To Buy Custom Domain Names For Your Blogger Blog

Why Won't We? Source: Flickr
A lot of people have been asking me lately on how to change my long Blogspot URL Domain name to a shorter, much easier to remember WWW - DOT COM URL(e.g: from janmck.blogspot.com to janmckhilado.com).

If you're using a Blogger Blog, it's very easy to Buy your own domain name and change that long, FREE domain name from blogger. All you have to do is to Go To the SETTINGS of your Blogger blog > PUBLISHING > click on CUSTOM DOMAIN > then enter your DESIRED DOMAIN NAME on the Blank Space (image below). The custom domains only cost $10/year. It's that cheap!

If you buy your own custom domain using Blogger's option, you don't need any Technical skills anymore for Blogger will be the one to set-up the domain for your blog, AUTOMATICALLY!

The only downside to this though is you can only pay using your credit card. If you don't have any credit card, you won't be able to make a purchase. And also, the Set-up takes 2-3 days to complete. So for the meantime, your blog will be DOWN for 2-3 Days. Meaning, no one can access it.

But if you want to try to be techie or want to learn it for yourself, or don't have a credit card but have a working Paypal account, well, the best way would be to Buy your domain name straight at Go Daddy (http://go-daddydomains.info/). You can use this easy to follow steps by Consuming experience on how to set-up your own custom domain on blogger. (I also use his steps by the way :D). If you buy straight at Go Daddy, you'll have full control over your domain unlike in buying through Blogger and also, you'll have your own Go Daddy account where you can track down your other purchased Domain Names in just one account.

P.S.
Are you living in Cebu or nearer cities and provinces? We will be organizing another Internet Marketing Workshop this coming July 2010! Just subscribe to my 7 day tutorial above to get future updates on this event.

    Hi Jan,

Have you tried go daddy? Perhaps you could share?
I am planning to buy my own domain and I am looking for a "good value" web hosting company. I need more inputs before I invest.

    Cheers and God bless.
